General Member

As a General Member of Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Student Toastmasters Club, I honed my communication and leadership skills in a vibrant and supportive environment. Through this role, I delivered impactful speeches such as my first Ice-breakers Speech and participated in engaging table topics sessions, fostering an atmosphere conducive to learning and growth. This experience allowed me to refine my public speaking abilities, providing me with a platform to practice articulation, receive constructive feedback, and ultimately build confidence in my communication skills.

Participating in Toastmasters has equipped me with skills in effective communication, active listening, and persuasive speaking. I have gained the ability to connect with diverse audiences, convey complex ideas with clarity, and think on my feet during impromptu speaking sessions. Additionally, I developed a keen eye for constructive criticism, leveraging feedback to continuously improve my speaking techniques and enhance my overall communication prowess. This journey has not only refined my verbal communication skills but has also instilled in me the confidence to address audiences with poise and conviction.

Welfare Chairman

As the Welfare Chairman, I undertook the responsibility of championing the physical, mental, and social well-being of members within the co-curricular activity. My role was centred around creating a nurturing environment that emphasised inclusivity and support. I organised and facilitated a diverse range of events and programs designed to strengthen the bonds among the student body, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Additionally, I played a key role in promoting mental health awareness, ensuring the well-being of my members, and mitigating feelings of exclusion. Collaborating closely with the Executive Committee (EXCO) team, I contributed significantly to the seamless operation of the co-curricular activity, preventing misunderstandings and disputes.

In this role, I honed my skills in event planning, community engagement, and conflict resolution. Through my dedication, I not only enhanced the overall student experience but also developed a profound understanding of the importance of empathy and communication in fostering a positive and inclusive environment. My tenure as Welfare Chairperson equipped me with a deep sense of social responsibility and a keen ability to create spaces where everyone feels valued and supported.
