HarmonyWorks! Conference 2023

As a member of the HarmonyWorks! 2023 Conference administration team, I played a key role in facilitating the collaboration between ITE College East and OnePeople.sg, a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting racial harmony. In addition to contributing to the overarching theme of "Me to We", I also took on food procurement and volunteer management, as well as people management tasks such as tracking attendance and coordinating ushers.

The conference, which aimed to explore the intricacies of racial harmony in Singapore, had a strong focus on the transition from individualism to inclusivity and diversity. Distinguished speakers, including Minister Edwin Tong, Dr Janil Puthucheary and Dr Yek Tiew Ming, as well as various religious and community leaders, shared their valuable insights on racial harmony. This range of perspectives provided participants from diverse backgrounds with a rich tapestry of experiences to observe and reflect upon, and contributed to the enhancement of my cultural awareness and critical thinking skills.

Attending the conference proved to be a transformative learning experience for me. It deepened my appreciation for the diversity and complexity inherent in racial identity and harmony. I came away with the understanding that achieving racial harmony requires collective effort and sustained commitment. Beyond my administrative contributions, attending this event allowed me to express my gratitude and commitment to promoting racial harmony in Singapore through open communication and meaningful action.
