Marketing Intern
What I Did.
At Singapore Book Council, I interned as a marketing intern. I worked to promote literary initiatives and enhance the organisation’s visibility within the community. A major part of my work involved managing various communication channels such as e-newsletters, social media, and SBC website. I created marketing collaterals for the council’s mission and upcoming events.
Alongside my team, I assisted with the organization and promotion of major events like the Asian Festival of Children’s Content and the Singapore Literature Prize. I managed the logistics of marketing materials that promoted the mission of the council and upcoming events. I aided in the formation of social media marketing campaigns to showcase the events and promote awareness in the community.
During my internship, I had some challenges. For instance, meeting deadlines and production of promotional material in time. I had to make sure everyone speaks the same language through all channels. Moreover, I had to adjust to the dynamic nature of event promotion, where changes occurred at the last minute. These obstacles made me better at managing my time and working out the best ways to talk to my teammates and others.
What I Learned.
This internship has provided me with relevant knowledge of marketing in the field of literature. I learned how to create effective messages that can get the attention of a varied audience with my digital marketing and communication skills. Handling the organization’s social media taught me the importance of uniformity and brand voice in all forms of communication. It also taught me to be dynamic and adaptable according to real-time needs.
Furthermore, I got to manage events and market them, which taught me about all the logistical work that goes into getting ready for literary events. Working with a committed team made me appreciate the collaborative efforts and communication towards achieving the same objectives. Ultimately, this experience made me more enthusiastic about promoting literature and the arts in Singapore and further ignited my commitment to doing this.
Goals for Continued Learning.
In future, I hope to further develop my marketing and communication skills by taking on more opportunities in the arts and culture. To improve my technical skills, I hope to take part in workshops on digital marketing strategies, content creation, and audience engagement which will also help me stay updated on current trends.
I would also like to take on leadership roles in future projects to help me in coordinating the marketing effort. Furthermore, I plan to participate in literary events and join organizations that allow me to meet other writers and learn about literary happenings. This experience has made me more devoted to standing up for literature and the arts, which I hope to do in the future with lessons learnt from this internship.

Retail Sales Ambassador
What I Did.
During my time as a Lush Sales Ambassador, I helped customers improve their lives by serving them and wet testing products. I effectively communicated with customers so they understood the company and variety of products offered. I was responsible for giving personalized store tours and consultations, which gave me the opportunity to connect with customers.
Along with customer interaction, I fulfilled my duties of product stock replenishment, local support, and visual merchandising enhancement. My work in these areas helped the team do better and made the customer’s experience better. To discuss strategies, I participated in team meetings and offer any insights from my observation of customer preferences.
What I Learned.
This job helped me enhance my customer skills and performance. I learned how to figure out what customers want and share the product benefits quickly for any customer-facing job. My involvement in operational tasks, such as deliveries and visual merchandising, was always proactive, which helped the team and ensured that the store was always well-stocked and represented.
As well as through my observation, I learned how to tailor my communication techniques to the requirements of the company in order to ensure the same message. This experience helped me to manage day-to-day operations and gave me the opportunity to balance customer service with operational tasks and improve my organizational skills.
Goals for Continued Learning.
Going forward, I would like to devote my energy to communication, project management, and community engagement. I shall do this in fields that interest me, such as marketing, communications, or community outreach. I will take part in workshops that help with how you talk to customers, manage customer relationships and co-ordinate the project.
As a next step, will continue to engage with communities and support initiatives that create value for it. I will also explore opportunities which give back to the environment or create sustainable solutions. This experience has encouraged me to give the best experience and connect people and will work in the future challenges using the learning of this job.

Marketing Intern
What I Did.
As an intern in marketing at Aik Chin Hin Machinery Co, I assisted in improving the company’s branding and visibility through different social media platforms.
I utilized TikTok to make interesting content, while also uploading promotional material on Instagram every day. I was in charge of preparing and managing proposals and documentation.
I explored competitors to get research and different market insights which helped us market better. Through conducting this research, I was able to get an insight into which products work and where we can place our advertisement. Furthermore, I assisted the Sales Team with their administrative work so that the two could communicate effectively.
What I Learned.
I sharpened my digital marketing and market analysis skills through the experience offered by this task. I developed the ability to craft powerful proposals that conveyed our brand’s value. I used insights from data to make decisions that improved brand presence and engagement during my internship.
Working in a quick-moving and friendly workplace taught me how to adapt and work with teams. Through my involvement, I gained broader insights into how marketing strategies can impact business outcomes and the importance of maintaining a consistent brand image across platforms. My commitment to a smooth working process and helping the Sales Team has helped me realize communication and organization are important to reach common objectives.
Goals for Continued Learning.
I want to enhance my skills further in digital marketing and brand management. I am looking for further opportunities in marketing and communication. I will attend workshops for advanced social media, data analysis and content creating strategies for developing technical expertise of mine.
In the future, I hope to have new responsibilities like leading a marketing campaign or managing a project to strengthen my leadership abilities. Moreover, I wish to network with other professionals and participate in industry events to gain insights into market dynamics and trends. This statement reinforces my belief that I would like to apply my skills towards some meaningful marketing effort, which I can do through my internship.

Retail Sales Associate
What I Did.
My role as a Fossil Sales Associate helped me improve my customer service skills. As an associate I served as a resource for the customer and helped informed them of the promotion and deals that were exclusive. As a sales person, I used to know about customer service. I used to communicate with them and inform them about the ongoing promotion and offers going on.
I made sure to keep the sales floor clean, and create displays with merchandise that would entice customers. The process improved look and feel of store and encouraged customers to check out various product offerings. I worked with the team and refreshed displays based on the season. This way we could ensure all-season displays for the customers.
What I Learned.
By doing this job, I learnt a lot about managing relationships, solving problems, displaying items, and managing stock. I have developed a keen eye for details and a pro-active approach in solving problems with the aim to overcome customers’ needs to ensure smooth and easy shopping.
I learnt that if we maintain a brilliant store environment; we also ensure that customers have a nice experience. I became very good at helping customers. I was able to give them product info, resolve their complaints, and all fun stuff.
Goals for Continued Learning.
I plan to look for a job in the area of my interest which will further hone my skills in communication, project management, and working with customers. Areas like marketing, communications, and community development are my preference. I think I will go to workshops on communication, customer relations, and visual presentations to get better knowledge.
I also want to work with community initiatives that support social responsibility and inclusiveness so I can use my skills in meaningful ways. The self-reflection has helped me remain committed to the provision of quality service and achieving high levels of interaction in all situations. I look forward to doing so in my future endeavors with this role.
